Versomatic is a powerful extension to the Mac OS X operating system that monitors and archives file changes automatically in the background. The entire process is completely transparent to the user and is compatible with any application that saves files to disk. Versomatic can also recover deleted and accidentally over-written files regardless of when they were deleted.
Versomatic is part "version control "and part "incremental backup," but unlike traditional backup applications, including Apple's upcoming Time Machine, Versomatic is not based on snapshot or backup schedules. Changes are archived in real-time "as they happen" and the protection is always pre-emptive. This means that you can recover every change not just the last scheduled backup and that you don't need to make a full backup to begin archiving changes. Versomatic’s ability to archive revisions locally in real-time can enhance traditional scheduled backup software and extend backup protection to off-line workstations and laptops.
Retrieving earlier versions of files couldn't be simpler. Just right-click (or control click) on a document to reveal a pop-up menu listing the file’s entire revision history.
