SyncWrangler™ Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

Q: When I try to activate my copy of SyncWrangler I get a message that says, "Cannot activate, please connect to internet and try again." What can I do?
A: This happened with some dialup connections (modem, some dsl or ISDN) when using builds 87 or earlier. The solution is to download and install SyncWrangler for Windows build 97 or greater. Click here to download the latest SyncWrangler for Windows release.

Q: I synchronize my music & video with my iPod using iTunes today (for free). Why do I need a utility like SyncWrangler?
A: iTunes copies music in only one direction - from your PC to your iPod. What this means is that without SyncWrangler you can't look at your iPod as a viable backup device for your music collection.

Q: There are dozens of shareware utilities out there that let me "rip" my music from an iPod to my computer. Again, why should I buy a utility like SyncWrangler?
A: SyncWrangler does a lot more than just "rip" files, it can actually synchronize and merge entire music collections in both directions, taking care not to wipe out valuable protected files, properly handling duplicate songs in multiple music formats and much more. If you value your music collections you'll find SyncWrangler invaluable.

Q: iTunes can show duplicate files. What do you do better?
A: iTunes only shows you the duplicates. You then have to manually decide what to do for every song. Is the song in the same format? Are the files the same size and in the same location? Which file is newer, larger or smaller? Is it the same song but from different albums? Managing duplicates manually is tedious, error prone work! And when dealing with purchased music, errors can be costly.

SyncWrangler can automate the management of duplicate songs based on your specifications while ensuring all protected files registered to you remain safe.
